(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 23)—The McKendree College hockey team had its two-game win streak stopped with a 5-2 home loss Friday night against DePaul University. The contest was played at the U.S. Ice Sports Complex in Fairview Heights.
The Bearcats fall to 2-3 on the year and will host DePaul again Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.
In Friday’s game, McKendree trailed 2-0 before a shorthanded goal by freshman center Charlie Donze (Fairview Heights, Ill./Althoff Catholic) (Fairview Heights, Ill.) midway through the second period cut the deficit in half. The Blue Demons put the game out of reach with a goal late in the second period and two more in the third. Sophomore center/wing Kyle Ilges (Highland, Ill./Highland) (Highland, Ill.) netted a power-play goal with just over three minutes for the Bearcats’ final tally of the game.
